WHY I BUILT
TAKE5.
My name is Tatum Erickson, and the reason I started Take5 Athletics comes from something I believe we have slowly forgotten about sports and training.
Somewhere along the way, we began to focus only on the outcome. Faster times. Bigger lifts. Better stats. But that was never the true purpose of sport. The real value has always been what the process does to the person going through it.
If you have ever played a sport and truly pushed yourself to be great, you know that the path is not comfortable. It constantly pushes your limits. Every day asks more of you than the day before. You learn how to deal with discomfort. You learn how to stay disciplined. You learn how to keep going when things feel difficult.
Training becomes more than just physical preparation. It becomes a process that builds confidence, discipline, and the willingness to pursue something meaningful even when the path is difficult. That kind of growth stays with a person for life.
When I meet people later in life who truly pushed themselves in sports, you can still see it in the way they carry themselves. The discipline is still there. The work ethic is still there. The confidence that comes from overcoming challenges is still there.
That is the mindset I want to create around training. Not just a place where people develop an isolated skill, but a place where the process of training develops the person. Because when someone commits to improving themselves physically, something deeper begins to form. Confidence. Discipline. Resilience. Work ethic.
For athletes, it means building the strength, speed, and resilience needed to reach their full potential. For adults, it often means rediscovering goals they once thought were out of reach and realizing they are still capable of more than they imagined.
Show up. Work hard. Push past the limits that once held you back. Because when training is approached the right way, it does far more than improve performance. It changes the person. And that is the true purpose behind everything we do at Take5 Athletics.
